Anyone who likes knives can probably name a movie or two that featured a knife they liked, or one the best knife scenes that they will never forget.

So we decided to come up with list of our own.

This is by no means comprehensive, but these are some of the first movies we think of when we think of movies with knives. It’s also something KRUDO Knives knows about, as KRUDO knives were used in the 2013 film “Zombie Massacre.”

Movies with the Best Knife Scenes

So here are a few movies where, for a variety of reasons, there’s a knife that we remember well.

“Crocodile Dundee”

In this fish out of water tale, a man who lives in the Australian Outback comes to New York City. And one of the things be brings with him is his fixed blade hunting knife (sometimes referred to as a Bowie knife, but it’s one on steroids). When a man attempts to mug him in the big city with a knife, Dundee calmly replies, “That’s not a knife.” The he pulls out his own blade. “That’s a knife.” Needless to say, the would-be mugger runs away. Bonus: he also uses the knife to battle an attacking crocodile.

“Under Siege”

How many movies feature a climactic battle involving a knife fight? This one does, as the good guy (Steven Siegel) faces off against the bad guy (Tommy Lee Jones) in a brief-but-intense knife fight. We won’t give away who wins – but you probably can guess.

“Gangs of New York”

Bill “The Butcher” Cutting, as portrayed by Daniel Day-Lewis, is memorizing to watch because he’s, well, crazy. But he’s also amazing with a knife, which he demonstrates in a scene in which he throws knives at his former assistance (played by Cameron Diaz) as part of a stage show. What the audience doesn’t know is that he is none too happy with her. An intense scene that stands out even in a movie with many intense scenes.

“Psycho”

Not exactly a positive portrayal of a knife, but it’s hard to make any list about knives in movies without mentioning the shower scene from this horror classic, directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

“V For Vendetta”

In this adaptation of the famous graphic novel, a masked vigilante rights some wrongs in a future London. And he rights some of those wrongs through the use of knives which he uses expertly in several scenes throughout the movie.

“The Lord of the Rings”

In these fantasy films, based on the novels by J.R.R. Tolkien, a band of warriors attempt to take a magical ring back to where it was forged so they can destroy it. And among the band is Legolas, a warrior so cool that the only weapons he needs are a longbow and a set of full-tang construction knives with steel blades and carved oaken handles. A lot of bad guys learn to respect them the hard way.

“Rambo: First Blood”

In this iconic film about a Vietnam veteran named Rambo, a hunting knife plays a big role in the film. He always has it with him, and demonstrates he knows how to use it…whether hunting game or defending himself.

“Kick-Ass”

If you haven’t seen this film, which is sort of an off-beat superhero movie (to say the least), just remember these two things: Hit Girl and butterfly knife. Enough said.

So there are a few of our choices, and we didn’t even get around to Michael Myers in “Halloween.” Maybe next time. In the meantime, check out these movies if you haven’t seen them and want to see action with knives that will remain on your mind years after you’ve seen it.
