Carrying concealed weapons at work requires first understanding the rules. That means both the laws in city, county and state as well as the rules adopted in your workplace.
No one at Krudo Knives would ever condone carrying an illegal weapon.
That said, if you want to carry weapons at work, the following presents some issues to keep in mind and some options for what you can carry.
Are Weapons At Work Legal?
This is, obviously, where to start. Where you live is everything when it comes to this issue. For example, Florida is known as having some of the vaguest knife laws in the country. Finding out what you can and cannot do will require a bit of research. In most cases, anything with a blade of less than 3 inches is likely OK.
Some states will allow you to carry pretty much anything. Arizona and Arkansas, for example.
Texas, just last year, made carrying a Bowie Knife legal. Other states are far more restrictive.
It’s also important to check with your employer to find out if there are any rules against carrying a concealed knife and, if so, what type of knives are banned.
Once you’ve established all of that, it’s time to think about what to carry. Here are two suggestions.
Tactical Pens
Tactical pens provide both functionality in the office and the ability to cleverly carry a concealed weapon. Or, as we like to put it, tactical pens are “the answer to the question you didn’t realize you had been asking.”
Tactical pens such as the Krubaton provide amazing versatility. The pen is a Parker-style refillable ink pen that functions perfectly for your work. But the other end is a glass breaker than can be used in an emergency or, with the proper training and practice, in self-defense.
If both ends are capped, then the pen becomes a titanium baton that is perfect as a pain compliance tool. By hitting an attacker in the right spot, the baton is a very effective self-defense weapon.
Folding Knives
Small folding knives can serve the purpose of both being self-defense weapons as well as a tool that helps with on-the-job tasks, if you have the kind of job that requires the use of a knife.
When you look at folding knives, the possibilities are almost endless. Krudo offers an entire line of folders that includes specialty knives such as the SNAG, Revolute and Drastik folding knives. Each has its own distinct advantages.
Carrying a concealed knife to work is a smart idea – if the local laws and your employer allows it. Not only can it serve you well in self-defense, but it provides a valuable tool to help you get through the challenges of the work day.
